GT amplifies Goku’s most brutal Dragon Ball attack, showcasing his heightened power

Posted on June 3, 2023June 3, 2023 by CharlotteM

In the vast arsenal of deadly attacks at Goku’s disposal throughout the Dragon Ball series, one technique stands out as particularly brutal, and its potency receives a significant boost in Dragon Ball GT.

Throughout Goku’s journey, he has encountered numerous formidable adversaries, each requiring increasingly powerful maneuvers to overcome. However, there is one move in Goku’s repertoire that consistently leads to the demise of his enemies, and it is during the events of Dragon Ball GT that this attack receives a remarkable upgrade, further augmenting its devastating potential.

Cast your mind back to the early days of Dragon Ball Z, where Goku and his comrades faced an unprecedented threat in the form of Raditz, Goku’s long-lost brother and a member of a malevolent group of Saiyans known for conquering planets under the command of Lord Frieza. Raditz, expecting Goku to have fulfilled his mission of subjugating Earth, was met instead with a resolute defender of the planet who would face him in a battle to the death. With the assistance of Piccolo, Goku managed to vanquish Raditz, albeit at the cost of his own life, employing a technique that he would later refine and enhance in Dragon Ball GT.

Fast forward to Dragon Ball GT, specifically episode 47, where Goku finds himself locked in an intense confrontation with Super 17, a formidable adversary whose defeat would determine the fate of the world. Despite Goku’s relentless barrage of attacks, even in his Super Saiyan 4 form, Super 17 effortlessly absorbs every blast, fueling his own power. Realizing that conventional means of attack are futile, Goku formulates a bold strategy: he resolves to seize Super 17 from behind and trigger a self-detonation, unleashing a surge of destructive energy aimed at overwhelming his opponent. Although this maneuver inflicts significant harm upon Goku himself, it ultimately leads to the defeat of Super 17, solidifying the upgraded nature of Goku’s technique.

The foundation of this technique traces back to Goku’s encounter with Raditz, where Goku and Piccolo joined forces to execute a decisive maneuver. In that fateful confrontation, Goku immobilized Raditz from behind, while Piccolo channeled a concentrated burst of ki, resulting in the swift demise of the Saiyan siblings. The concept of seizing a substantially stronger adversary from behind and delivering an attack that inflicts equal damage to both parties has been employed by Goku on two notable occasions, with the deaths of his opponents being the unfortunate outcome. However, the version of the technique utilized against Super 17 showcased notable refinement, as Goku demonstrated his ability to execute it autonomously without the need for assistance from another Dragon Ball fighter.

The utilization of this mutually-destructive holding attack represents a measure of last resort, reserved for the most dire of circumstances. Its efficacy and devastating impact speak volumes, particularly in the context of Dragon Ball GT, where Goku’s mastery and enhancement of this deadly technique enable him to unleash its full destructive fury without the necessity of a fellow combatant. The evolution of Goku’s technique stands as a testament to his unwavering determination and his ceaseless quest for strength and victory.
