The highly anticipated final season of Attack on Titan has unveiled what could potentially be its last key visual ahead of the premiere of the second half of its epic finale. Revealed during the MAPPA Stage Show 2023, this key visual marks a significant milestone for fans of the series.
According to Crunchyroll, the recent event showcased the second half of Attack on Titan Final Season: The Final Chapters. As part of the unveiling, MAPPA Studio presented a striking poster featuring a unique image and a poignant text that roughly translates to “Goodbye Eren,” referencing the protagonist, Eren Jaeger.
The key visual itself captures attention with its unexpected whimsicality. It depicts a solitary log cabin surrounded by lush greenery, accompanied by a wooden bench and table outside. Adding an intriguing touch, two colossal shadows loom at the bottom of the frame, resembling the Titans from the series. Strikingly, these shadows appear to be holding hands and approaching the cabin, creating a sense of both awe and foreboding. Above the cabin, a bird soars through the sky, reminiscent of the opening scenes from the show’s very first episode.
In addition to the key visual, the MAPPA Stage Show treated fans to more Attack on Titan content. Voice actors Yuki Kaji (Eren Jaeger), Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa Ackerman), and Romi Park (Hange Zoe) participated in a live reading of some of the anime’s most beloved scenes. Director Yuichiro Hayashi also joined them, sharing that this visual is likely the final one to be revealed for the project, adding to the significance of the moment.
Attack on Titan, originally based on Hajime Isayama’s manga, first aired in Japan back in 2013 under Wit Studio. However, Studio MAPPA took over production for the Final Season, with the first half premiering in December 2020. The final season has been divided into multiple parts, with the first two parts consisting of two cours each and the final part concluding with two feature-length episodes. Fans can look forward to the final part of the season debuting in the fall of 2023.
Apart from the exciting Attack on Titan updates, the MAPPA Stage Show 2023 also provided updates on other notable projects. The popular series Jujutsu Kaisen, known for its dark shonen elements, received a teaser for its upcoming second season, while Vinland Saga, inspired by Viking lore, offered glimpses of its Season 2 finale. However, fans of Chainsaw Man, based on Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga, were left disappointed with no new updates on the project. In addition to these existing titles, MAPPA announced the production of a new anime titled Bucchigiri?!, which also received a teaser trailer during the event.
For those eager to catch up on the series or experience the journey from the beginning, all four seasons of Attack on Titan are available for streaming on Crunchyroll, providing fans with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the gripping world of Titans, survival, and the indomitable human spirit.
