Jujutsu Kaisen fans are eagerly anticipating the second season of the hit anime, and they have been treated to some new illustrations of two key characters, Gojo Satoru and Toji Fushiguro. These illustrations were revealed by Myamura (@/king_jin_woo), and they offer fans a glimpse into what they can expect from the upcoming season.
The two illustrations couldn’t be more different from one another. On the left, Toji has a menacing grin, with a shadow casting over his face, while on the right, Gojo is seen smiling brightly and cheerfully, with sunglasses perched near the tip of his nose. The contrast between the two images is striking and underscores the different personalities and attitudes of the characters.
Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen has been highly anticipated since the conclusion of the first season. The new season will take fans back 11 years to when Gojo attended Jujutsu High as a student, along with his friend Suguru Geto. Season 2 will cover the “Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu” and “Shibuya Incident” arcs, and according to Gojo’s voice actor Yuichi Nakamura, there will be more anime-only scenes. “Not only the battles but other parts of episodes will also be flashy,” Nakamura said, adding that he hopes fans of the manga will enjoy the enhanced direction in the anime.
Jujutsu Kaisen is set in a world where the negative emotions from humans culminate into the birth of Curses, whose goal is to harm humanity. The anime follows Yuji Itadori, an unusually physically fit high schooler who swallows the rotting finger of Sukuna, the King of Curses, and lands himself a death sentence. With the help of the charismatic and eccentric Gojo Satoru, an eccentric teacher at Jujutsu High, Yuji manages to buy himself a little bit more time until he finds and consumes the rest of Sukuna’s fingers.
The manga’s creator, Gege Akutami, began serializing Jujutsu Kaisen in Weekly Shōnen Jump in March 2018 and has hinted that the series may be coming to an end sometime in the near future. The series has already proven its popularity, with multiple volumes landing on the New York Times bestseller list and having over 70 million copies in circulation as of August 2022.
Season 1 and the prequel Jujutsu Kaisen 0 are available for streaming on Crunchyroll, and fans can expect to catch the highly anticipated second season of Jujutsu Kaisen when it premieres on July 7.
