Negative Actions of Armin in Attack on Titan

Armin Alert, one of the main characters of Attack on Titan, is depicted as a brilliant and empathetic character who always tries to make the right decisions in any given situation. However, his tendency to overthink things often leads to his downfall, causing him to make the wrong decisions. Despite being a new recruit, his experiences as a soldier have helped him become more decisive, similar to Erwin, making his contributions to the scouts as necessary.

Although Armin’s intelligence and empathy make him a valuable asset to the scouts, his indecisiveness and tendency to act with his heart rather than his head lead to some disastrous consequences. For example, when his squad was in danger and being attacked by the Colossal Titan for the second time, Armin froze, unable to do anything to save his teammates. As a result, more people could have been saved if he had fought back. Moreover, when fighting against people instead of Titans, Armin is willing to commit the taboo of murder to protect his comrades, even though he struggles with the consequences after the fact.

In Season 4, Armin is forced to betray and kill the people he once called friends when his attempts to trick them fail, and he realizes Eren’s plans to eradicate the entire world are a step too far, even for him. Despite this, Armin convinces everyone to help Eren start the Rumbling, even though he is completely wrong about Eren’s intent for the Rumbling.

One of Armin’s worst actions is eating Bertholdt when Armin and Erwin are fatally wounded. Although it saves Armin’s life, Bertholdt wasn’t a villain; he was a child soldier raised and forced to attack the people of Paradis.
