Winnie the Pooh, the beloved honey-obsessed bear, is set to make an appearance in the second chapter of Disney Lorcana, alongside characters from “Raya and the Last Dragon” and additional characters from the “Mulan” universe. This exciting revelation came to light when a spokesperson from Ravensburger, the publisher of Disney Lorcana, confirmed these new inclusions to TheGamer.
The news of Disney Lorcana’s second chapter has already stirred up anticipation, even though the first chapter was just recently released. French board game shop Ludivers unintentionally let the cat out of the bag by adding several products from the second chapter to their inventory, inadvertently revealing some of the characters that will be introduced in the game. Among these characters, Ludivers appeared to have mistakenly unveiled Sisu from “Raya and the Last Dragon,” Winnie the Pooh, and hinted at more characters from the “Mulan” franchise. Additionally, it was suggested that the upcoming chapter would feature two starter decks, although Ludivers did not confirm the characters featured in these decks at the time of their accidental leak.
Subsequent to this leak, a Ravensburger spokesperson reached out to TheGamer to provide official details about Disney Lorcana’s second chapter. They reaffirmed the release dates, with November 17 set for local game stores and December 1 for mass retail. They also confirmed the inclusion of two starter decks in the second set.
What’s even more intriguing is the confirmation that set 2 accessories will “feature animated characters from popular Disney franchises, including Winnie the Pooh, Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, and Raya and the Last Dragon.” This confirmation corroborates the Ludivers leak and provides a glimpse into some of the cards and accessories that players can expect in the upcoming release.
Amidst much speculation about potential additions to Disney Lorcana’s second chapter, it’s clear that Ravensburger is maintaining its focus on the Disney universe for now, bypassing any foray into the Pixar realm, as some had speculated. The inclusion of Winnie the Pooh is particularly exciting for fans, given the enduring popularity of Pooh and his friends. However, the emphasis on “Mulan” raises some curiosity, as it featured in the first chapter without the proper representation of one of its most beloved characters, Mushu.
The addition of “Raya and the Last Dragon” is particularly interesting, as it supplants “Moana” as the most recent Disney film to be represented in Disney Lorcana. It seems that fans will have to wait a bit longer to see the game expand into other properties owned by Disney. Nonetheless, the decision to stick with Disney classics for now is a welcomed one, showing restraint and dedication to the rich history of Disney storytelling.
