Warning: Major spoilers ahead for those who haven’t read the manga or watched the anime.
So, what happened to all the Demon Slayer characters after the Final Battle Arc?
Chapter 204 brings us to a moment of respite as Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, and Zenitsu fully recover from their arduous battle against the Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji. They return to their peaceful life at the Kamado family house in the serene mountains, basking in the hard-fought victory they achieved.
Chapter 205 takes an intriguing leap into the future, three generations later. Here, we are introduced to the great-grandchildren of our beloved characters, providing a glimpse into the legacy they have left behind.
First, we meet Sumihiko Kamado, a vibrant 15-year-old student who is eagerly preparing for school. His youthful enthusiasm and determination reflect the indomitable spirit passed down from Tanjiro.
Our attention then shifts to Yoshiteru Agatsuma, a 17-year-old student who bears a striking resemblance to Zenitsu. He immerses himself in Zenitsu’s memoirs, recounting the Demon Slayer Corps’ triumph over Muzan. On their way to school, Yoshiteru shares his belief in reincarnation with his older sister, Touko, who remarkably resembles Nezuko. He holds the conviction that all those who fell in the battle against the Demon King have been reborn and are now leading joyful lives.
However, Touko seems preoccupied, engrossed in her phone. She carries a secret crush on Tenma Uzui, a 20-year-old athlete who recently achieved a gold medal for Japan in Gymnastics. Tenma possesses the same bold personality and features as Tengen, the Sound Hashira.
The Agatsuma siblings stumble upon news about Aoba Hashibara, an individual strikingly reminiscent of Inosuke. Aoba, now a renowned botanist, has made a groundbreaking discovery—the elusive Blue Spider Lily, the very plant Muzan sought to attain immortality. Aoba’s research reveals that the flower blooms only a few days each year during daylight hours, which explains why Muzan and his demons could never find it.
The world around them is also populated by individuals bearing uncanny resemblances to the Hashira. At their school, a preschool teacher strikingly resembles Gyomei Himejima, the Stone Pillar. The Agatsuma siblings’ favorite restaurant is owned by a couple who share the features of Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Pillar, and Obanai Iguro, the Serpent Hashira. The restaurant embraces snake-themed decorations, paying homage to Obanai’s affinity for snakes and Mitsuri’s love for food.
In a heartwarming turn of events, a member of the Ubuyashiki family is showcased on television as the oldest person in Japan, signifying the family’s liberation from the curse that once plagued them.
We catch glimpses of characters resembling Jigoro Kuwajima, the former Thunder Hashira, and Sakonji Urokodaki, the former Water Hashira, engaging in a friendly game of Shogi, a traditional Japanese board game. Additionally, two policemen patrolling the streets bear an uncanny resemblance to the Shinazugawa brothers.
The final chapter sheds light on the fate of the sole surviving demon, Yushiro. After aiding the Demon Slayers in vanquishing Muzan, Yushiro adopts the last name Yamamoto and becomes a renowned artist. He dedicates his talent to painting portraits and illustrations of his former patron, Tamayo, keeping her memory alive through his art.
Sumihiko, the great-grandchild of Tanjiro, shares a close bond with his friend Toujurou, who strikingly resembles Kyojiro Rengoku, the Flame Pillar. The two boys excitedly discuss joining the Kendo team as they eagerly make their way to school. In a heartwarming closing panel, Sumihiko’s mother engages in conversation with the school administration, while a picture on her wall depicts all the survivors from the Final Battle Arc. Alongside the image, the hanafuda earrings, now treasured Kamado family heirlooms, serve as a reminder of the extraordinary journey and unyielding spirit of the Demon Slayers.
With these final chapters, the Demon Slayer manga comes to a satisfying conclusion, providing closure to the characters’ stories while showcasing the legacy they have left behind. It’s a testament to the enduring impact of their struggles, triumphs, and unwavering bonds that will continue to resonate with readers for years to come.
