Rumors have been swirling across various social media platforms, suggesting that Disney and Pixar are collaborating to create an “Among Us” movie, setting fans of the popular online game into a frenzy. Fueling these speculations is a viral movie poster featuring the signature crew member from the game, which depicts a crew member gazing out toward an apparent movie screening audience, against a backdrop of planets, airplanes, and robot-like creatures. The movie title, “Among Us,” is prominently displayed in neon blue, with the logos of Disney and Pixar featured prominently at the top.
One popular Twitter account, formerly known as @EverythingOOC and now as Popular X, was one of the many sources that amplified this news, sharing the movie poster with the enthusiastic caption, “NO WAY ITS HAPPENING.” As of my last update, this tweet had garnered nearly six million views, reflecting the remarkable impact of the alleged announcement.
However, it is crucial to clarify that these claims are not grounded in reality. Disney and Pixar are not, in fact, in the process of producing an “Among Us” movie. The viral movie poster that has set the internet abuzz is a fake creation.
In recent weeks, the internet has witnessed a proliferation of counterfeit Disney and Pixar movie posters, causing some confusion among fans. The origins of these fictitious movie posters have often been traced back to the creative endeavors of fans or individuals with an aptitude for graphic design. These imaginative and skillful individuals harness the power of AI and digital art to produce these eye-catching but wholly deceptive movie posters. Notably, Pirates and Princesses, a platform well-versed in debunking Disney-related rumors, confirmed the spurious nature of these posters.
It is essential to remain vigilant when encountering sensational news on social media platforms, especially those that seem too good to be true. In the quest for internet virality and social media recognition, disinformation can spread rapidly. Thus, it is highly advisable to corroborate such news through trustworthy and credible news outlets.
Despite the disappointment that arises from learning that an “Among Us” movie by Disney and Pixar remains a fictitious concept, fans of the game expressed their amazement and excitement on various social media platforms.
While it is clear that these rumors are based on fabrications, it’s worth noting that similar incidents involving fabricated Disney and Pixar movie posters have occurred in recent times. These include fake movie posters for “Caust,” a movie purportedly centered around Adolf Hitler and the Holocaust, “Chalino Sanchez,” and “Culiacanazo,” among others. Additionally, claims of Disney and Pixar producing a movie based on the tragic death of George Floyd also made rounds online. This counterfeit movie poster featured an animated police officer kneeling on the back of a Black man while others cheered in the background.
As of the time of writing, neither Disney nor Pixar had issued official responses to these counterfeit movie posters that have proliferated across the internet.
In the world of gaming, “Among Us” has garnered immense popularity as a science fiction and social deduction murder mystery game created by Innersloth. Released in June 2015, the video game has since been adapted for various gaming platforms, including Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation. The game unfolds in five distinct locations, with one player collaborating with 14 other crew members. Among the crew members are three imposters with the task of eliminating their colleagues, while the crewmates must complete tasks, report any suspicious activity, hold emergency meetings, and collectively work to unveil the identity of the imposter.
