“The Princess and the Frog Live-Action Cast: Our Dream Picks”
Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of “The Princess and the Frog” has generated significant online excitement. The original animated film featured a stellar voice cast, and we’d love to see some of those actors reprise their roles in this new version. For instance, Keith David should return as Dr. Facilier, the iconic Disney villain. Michael-Leon Wooley should return as the voice of Louis, the trumpet-playing alligator, assuming the character is CGI. John Goodman would be perfect to reprise his role as Big Daddy. While Jenifer Lewis may be too old to play Tiana again, Anika Noni Rose, the first Black Disney Princess, could portray Eudora, Tiana’s mother. As for the other main characters, here are our suggestions for their live-action counterparts:
- H.E.R. as Tiana: With her independence, spirit, and incredible voice, H.E.R. would make a fantastic Tiana.
- Yara Shahidi as a modern, confident Tiana: Yara Shahidi, known for her role as Tinkerbell in “Peter Pan and Wendy,” could bring a contemporary edge to Tiana.
- Coco Jones as a soulful Tiana: Coco Jones, seen in “Bel-Air,” could infuse Tiana’s songs with smooth R&B vibes.
- China Anne McClain as an edgier Tiana: China Anne McClain’s portrayal would highlight Tiana’s kickass qualities.
- Sofia Wylie for a fresh approach: Sofia Wylie from “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” has a captivating presence.
- Xolo MaridueƱa as Naveen: Xolo MaridueƱa can balance Naveen’s cockiness and charm, as seen in “Blue Beetle” footage.
- Jharrel Jerome for Naveen’s vulnerability: Jharrel Jerome could bring depth to Naveen’s character and pair well with H.E.R. or Yara Shahidi.
- Jamie Foxx as Ray: Jamie Foxx’s big personality would be a perfect fit for the role of Ray.
- Hailee Steinfeld as Charlotte: Hailee Steinfeld could humorously capture Charlotte’s friendship and royal ambitions.
- Sophie Turner for a New Orleans charm: Sophie Turner’s charisma would make her a believable New Orleans princess if she can handle the accent.
- Lily-Rose Depp as Charlotte’s over-the-top personality: Lily-Rose Depp’s experience in “The Idol” shows she can handle an extravagant role.
- James Corden as Lawrence: James Corden’s talent for physical comedy would shine in the role of Lawrence trying to impersonate Naveen.
