Jujutsu Kaisen unveils the date for its ultimate battle

For a while now, fans of the popular manga Jujutsu Kaisen have been speculating about when the series will come to an end. Earlier this year, rumors that the manga was reaching its conclusion were confirmed, leaving fans to wonder when the final resolution would drop. Some speculated that it could happen in a few months, while others believed it could take years. However, Gege Akutami, the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen, has now given fans a clue about the end date, although in his typical cryptic style.

In chapter 221 of Jujutsu Kaisen, Satoru Gojo, a key character who had been away from the main story, returns after being released from the Prison Realm. He finds himself face-to-face with the two remaining threats to society, Kenjaku and Sukuna. All three characters know that there are only two possible outcomes to this encounter – Gojo will either defeat them and save the world, or he will be defeated by one or both of them. However, instead of fighting immediately, they decide to delay the battle until Christmas Eve, which is about a month away in the story. While this might seem like a reasonable choice among the characters to give them each time to prepare, it could also be a signal to fans that the Gojo-Sukuna-Kenjaku showdown will happen on December 24, 2023.

Several facts support this conclusion. Firstly, Akutami has suggested that Jujutsu Kaisen will end in late 2023. Secondly, the death or incapacitation of key characters in the story has increased significantly over the past few months. Thirdly, December 24th is a week before the end of the year, and this year it falls on a Sunday – the manga’s normal publication day. Akutami has a reputation for dropping hints and clues throughout the story, so it’s not hard to see him organizing the story so that the fight happens on the same day in the manga as it does in real life.

If December 24, 2023, does turn out to be the final battle between Gojo, Sukuna, and Kenjaku, it would mark the end or the beginning of the end of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga. It’s unlikely that any story after this battle would be as climactic or captivating, as no other character in the story commands fans’ attention like these three. If all three were to be lost, it would create a hole in the story that would be hard to fill with the remaining characters. Regardless of who wins, the story would come to its logical end. If Gojo wins, there would be no one left to challenge him, and if Sukuna and Kenjaku win, there would be no one else to threaten their plans. The end of the fight would be the most fitting end to the story and the series.

Fans have been eagerly anticipating this final showdown for years, and it seems that Akutami has been building up to this moment since the very first chapter. While fans might be interested in spin-off stories that explore different characters, it’s unlikely that they would be interested in more of the same after such a climactic ending. Christmas Eve is destined to become an important date for Jujutsu Kaisen fans all over the world, and the end of the series will be a bittersweet moment for fans who have followed the story for so long.
