For the 2022 Xfinity season, Daniel Hemric will join Kaulig Racing, the team announced on Saturday.
This season, Hemric will drive the No. 11 car, which is currently driven by Justin Haley. Next season, Haley will drive Kaulig’s Cup car.
This season in the Xfinity Series, Hemric is racing for Joe Gibbs Racing. He’s one of the 12 drivers in the playoffs. At Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the playoffs begin tonight (7:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN).
“The belief that Matt Kaulig and Chris Rice have in me to come drive their notable, No. 11 car means the world to me,” said Hemric in a statement from the team. “Equally, I believe in their program, their vision, and what they’re building at Kaulig Racing. It’s impressive to see how they’ve become an elite, multi-car Xfinity Series program in such a short period of time. I’m just incredibly thankful for the opportunity to drive for them next year, and I’m ready to put in the work to continue building on the team’s success.”
At Kaulig Racing, Hemric will be a teammate of AJ Allmendinger.
Hemric is in his third full season with the Xfinity Series. In 2017 and 2018, he qualified for the championship race. Hemric is still looking for his first NASCAR national series victory. In 113 series starts, he has 39 top-five finishes and 66 top tens.
Hemric competed in 21 Xfinity races for JR Motorsports in 2020 before joining Joe Gibbs Racing for the 2019 season. In 2019, he raced for Richard Childress Racing as a Cup rookie.
Sponsorship will be announced at a later date.
