Rockstar Energy Husqvarna has drafted Joshua Varize to race for them in the 250MX class for the final two rounds of the 2021 Pro Motocross championship, as their lineup has been depleted by injury.
Starting this weekend at Fox Raceway in Pala, California for the penultimate round of the season, Varize will swing his leg over the Husqvarna FC250.
Varize has been in the KTM Group’s pipeline for a long time, riding for KTM’s orange brigade team throughout his amateur career and into the pro ranks beginning last season.
Varize finished seventh in the 250SX East championship after multiple top ten finishes in Supercross. His best finish so far in the 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross season was 11th overall at Budds Creek, where he went 11-11.
“It feels amazing. Just a dream come true,” Varize told Racer X’s Kellen Brauer. “Just to get the opportunity to fill in for a factory team for the last two outdoor national rounds, it’s for sure a blessing. I’m stoked and can’t wait for it.”
This season, all but one of the team’s 450MX riders, RJ Hampshire, have been injured or ill, and the team has lost all three of its 450MX riders.
Varize joins the team in 18th place in the 250MX points standings, looking to get into the top 10 for the first time this season when he takes the track at Fox Raceway on Saturday.
