Drivers may find it challenging to fit simulator time in before a Grand Prix due to logistics and time limits. Sebastian Vettel, on the other hand, should have less of a problem going forward now that he has an Aston Martin simulator at home.
Sebastian Vettel will be able to spend time in the simulator from the comfort of his own home, thanks to an Aston Martin-designed simulator.
Given the logistics and time limits involved in the sport, it may be challenging for racers to fit in time to run simulation circuits because this equipment is typically situated at a team’s factory.
Vettel was unable to finish any simulator time prior to the first Saudi Arabian Grand Prix last year.
During the 2021 season, Aston Martin and Vettel collaborated on developing a simulator, and the final product has just been brought to his home.
Aston Martin’s approach to creating a Vettel simulator
The AMR21, Vettel’s car from the 2021 campaign, is represented physically in the unique simulator. His race seat, headrest, and seatbelts are all included.
It also has three screens, as a two-screen version was reportedly too small. Vettel has a realistic vision behind the wheel thanks to the overall design.
The project has been in the works for nearly a year, with discussions and research beginning in January and construction starting in July. The simulator was ready to be installed at Vettel’s home as early as September.
Having this machinery allows the four-time World Champion to plan his own simulator sessions ahead of each Grand Prix, something that Aston Martin believe shows Vettel’s “commitment to extracting every bit of performance he can”.
