Joey Logano of Team Penske won the first NASCAR Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum after leading the final 35 laps on Sunday.
Since its start in 1979, Logano has won the season-opening exhibition race at Daytona International Speedway’s 2.5-mile oval.
Logano won the race in his No. 22 Ford by 0.877 seconds over Kyle Busch on a 0.25-mile temporary oval built inside the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
Logano’s most recent Clash victory was in 2017. In the Clash, he is the 12th driver to win several times.
Penske wins the Clash for the fifth time.
During the 150-lap race, three leaders exchanged the lead five times. Tyler Reddick led 51 laps before placing 21st due to a mechanical issue in his No. 8 Chevrolet. Kyle Busch led 64 laps.
Ford wins the Clash for the tenth time.
The lineup for the Clash at the Coliseum was reduced to 23 cars for the main event after a frantic sequence of heat and qualification races. Among the noteworthy NASCAR Cup Series drivers to be eliminated were Brad Keselowski, Kurt Busch, and Alex Bowman.
